Class officer elections are in just two weeks & surprise, I’m on the ballot!
The voices of the Bay Path College campus are heard every week at SGA (Student Government Association) meetings where student representatives from all the clubs on campus, RAs and class officers present any concerns, issues or suggestions. This past week was especially exciting as candidates gave speeches for the annual class & SGA board elections on April 19th and 20th.
Much like high school, students who run for offices are typically involved in many activities on campus and remain in office, either class or SGA, throughout their years at BPC. Occasionally, there will not be a willing candidate for a position, in which case those students present at the meeting will nominate someone they feel can successfully fulfill the position… which is how I was nominated for the Class of 2012 Treasurer!
I really was touched to be nominated by my fellow classmates. To be honest, I’m thankful that they brought me into this election so that I can demonstrate my responsibility and dedication, becoming a more active member of my class. Plus, business management is no stranger to me as I loved the DECA program at my high school and won awards for fundraising strategies. I’m looking forward to working with class officers in creating a fun, successful, fantastical 2010-2011 year!
carpe diem.
Candidates are postings colorful signs all over bulletin boards, Blake Commons, D’Mour & Carr Hall, bathroom stalls, dorm rooms and anywhere else an 8x11in flyer will hang, and the Facebook groups are growing! The friendly competition is definitely on!
When an opportunity comes your way, grab it and seize the day!
